The Wanda Project, established in 2006, is a contemporary dance company, under the direction of Wanda K. W. Ebright. The company of nine dancers and two apprentices is selected by audition each May, based on their work ethic, musicality and ability to move effortlessly between ballet, modern and jazz genres of dance. Initially formed on a project-by-project basis, the company now rehearses and performs from mid-August to mid-June each year. TWP has performed at the Denver Independent Choreographers Project (CO), the 2006 and 2007 Piccolo Spoleto Dance Festivals (SC), BalletFest Atlanta (GA), the Panoply Arts Festival (AL), the Kaleidoscope performance at the SCAHPERD convention in Myrtle Beach (SC). In 2008, TWP was honored to tour SC with Knoxville pianist and composer Wendel Werner, and has plans to do the same in May 2009. The Wanda Project is the performance component of Midlands/Pee Dee Dance Foundation, a non-profit corporation & a tax exempt organization with 501 c 3 status. All donations to the company and its parent organization, Midlands/Pee Dee Dance, are tax deductible. |
